Turning to our immediate left, we venture into the comfortably formal living room. An oxymoron, yes, but the current homeowner’s golden doodle, “Maddie” shows us what comfy really looks like.
Tying the living room with the elegant, formal dining room is their stylish Restoration Hardware sconces. The matching window hardware and chandelier certainly adds a diva-esque quality to this often, but-not-in-this-case, pass-through space that’s a sophisticated and friendly  gathering place for both dinner parties and a mean game or two of Scrabble. For those food aficionados, the gourmet kitchen is just steps away and stocked with a stainless steel Viking Professional range and grill, double ovens, a warming shelf and matching stainless KitchenAid refrigerator.

Natural light easily spills into the large windows of this top-of-the-line kitchen and sweet adjoining eat-in dining area. Meal preparation and clean-up is a cinch with ample and custom Rossa Damasco marble countertops, Kohler sinks with Groeh faucets, a center island with sink, and a KitchenAid stainless steel dishwasher and trash compactor. Now that everything’s tidy, we venture out through the French doors and onto the slate-covered terrace. We hear our favorite tunes on the outdoor speaker system and enjoy a glass of Merlot as we gaze out over the back garden.
The tour continues back inside as we pass seamlessly from the Terrace back through the French doors and into the cozy family room. We take a moment to rest our feet on the overstuffed sofa. Another set of French doors tempts us to steal a second relaxing look at the backyard oasis. Just one door down, at the beginning of the hallway, is the first en suite bedroom that features a large closet with built-ins and a bathroom with custom marble tile, cherry cabinetry and Newport Brass bath fixtures. (I secretly wonder if the new owners wouldn’t mind opening a bed and breakfast, me being their first guest.)

As we make our way to the second level, we notice two doors under the stairway; the first is a convenient and cleverly located powder room, the other is handy broom closet. Once we arrive at the second floor, we quickly observe the comfy Berber carpet throughout, as well as its mindful layout. Each en suite bedroom is well-situated allowing for a good amount of privacy and personal space. The two spacious en suites both enjoy recessed lighting, a closet with built-ins and are wired for a ceiling fan. And, aside from the clean and crisp subway tile, the bathrooms smartly mimic the first floor’s features.

There is a noticeable gasp as we enter the master bedroom. This extraordinarily expansive suite is the kind of getaway any Angelino would greatly appreciate. Its sizable square footage offers lovely, and quite literally, breathing room. An additional opportunity to appreciate the garden vistas is presented by French doors out to a private balcony. With a walk-in and linen closet, storage can be checked off the list. Most arguably, the best room in this house is the master bath that exudes luxury. Its elegance is reflected in custom travertine tile, his and hers custom cherry vanity with custom marble counter, a Whirlpool tub and separate travertine shower, Newport Brass fixers and a Velux Skylight for warm illumination.
Well, it’s time we let ourselves out and end this memorable tour. A group of neighborhood kids wave as they pedal their bikes down the quaint and tree-lined street. Before we hop back into our cars, we’re met and told by passersby that this part of LA is their “little island”; where block parties and “welcome wagons”, old school customs that beckon back memories of towns like Mayberry, still exist.
